Alpharetta signal work may slow traffic

Alpharetta city and Georgia Department of Transportation officials said traffic could get hung up on Windward Parkway for the next week as Georgia DOT engineers deploy a new signal timing plan that’s intended to improve traffic flow and safety. The city said traffic may actually worsen for some period of time, however, as signals are timed out based on the new plan.

The city said GDOT officials worked with the city for several months to collect and analyze data on traffic volumes and patterns, then used the state’s modeling software to rework flow.

The work’s scheduled to finish Nov. 23.
