Alpharetta has scheduled two concurrent events to accept old electronics and shred documents.
The free electronics recycling is set for 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 27, at the Department of Public Works, 1790 Hembree Road. Atlanta Recycling Solutions will take such items as computers, DVD and VCR players, mobile phones, telephones and printers.
There will be a $10 charge for CRT computer monitors, and a $20 charge for acceptable televisions (no projection TVs, console units or TV tubes, nor microwave ovens, refrigerators or other appliances). For a list of acceptable and unacceptable items: https://bit.ly/2HPlo9u
At the same time and place, confidential documents such as old bank statements and medical histories will be accepted for free, secure shredding. There’s a five-box limit per household.
The Alpharetta Natural Resources Commission asks participants, if possible, to bring a can of food per box to donate to the North Fulton Community Charities Food Bank. Information: Terry Porter, 678-297-6213 or tporter@alpharetta.ga.us
