The Alpharetta City Council has approved reimbursing Johns Creek $249,102 for design and engineering services for the Haynes Bridge Road widening project.

An intergovernmental agreement between the two cities has Johns Bridge managing the design, engineering and right-of-way acquisition for widening Haynes Bridge from two lanes to four between Mansell and Old Alabama roads, according to an Alpharetta staff report to the council.

“Design costs and third-party costs associated with right-of-way acquisition … are split 50/50 between the cities,” staff said.

Alpharetta will pay $55,427 immediately, its share for work already completed – a conceptual design and miscellaneous revisions by Lowe Engineers LLC, and pavement coring by NOVA Engineering and Environmental LLC; and $193,675 upon completion of engineering services by Lowe, and environmental services by Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc.

The Haynes Bridge work is a Tier 1 project of the Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax approved by voters in November, 2016.
