The Alpharetta City Council has approved design-related contracts totaling $811,892 for improvements to Academy Street and Webb Bridge Road.

Pond & Co. was awarded a $203,175 design contract for Academy from Loxford Lane to Fire Station 81.

The design scope includes a 6-foot-wide sidewalk along the north side of the street; left-turn lanes where possible between Loxford and Wedgewood Drive; and a typical cross-section with 10-foot travel and turn lanes, 4-foot bike lane, 2-foot curb and gutter, 2-foot grass strip, and 6-foot sidewalk.

Pond also was awarded a $499,717 design contract for Webb Bridge from the Big Creek Greenway to Webb Bridge Way.

The design scope includes 8-foot-wide sidewalks on both sides of the street; 4-foot bike lanes in each direction of travel; a single-lane roundabout at Webb Bridge Way, and pedestrian lighting. The consultant will evaluate and, if feasible, design a second roundabout at Southlake Drive/Park Bridge Parkway.

Finally, the council awarded a $109,000 project management contract to Atkins North America Inc.
