Alleged NYC cop killer fell through the cracks

By Christian Boone

For the last year, Ismaaiyl Brinsley managed to avoid arrest — an unlikely development for the accused killer of two New York City police officers.

Brinsley, 28, had been arrested 20 times over his short life for everything from stealing a Gucci belt to threatening a Waffle House waitress. He threatened to kill people but was rarely violent and, because of that, never served prison time.

But in Dec. 2013 he was violated his probation a second time, an infraction that all but guarantees prison time.

If only law enforcement knew where to find him.
