An alleged bank robber who led Gwinnett County police on two car chases Tuesday, carjacked a woman in a grocery store parking lot and initiated a shootout, died from his injuries, WSB-TV is reporting.

Police say the man robbed the Bank of America at Sever Road and Old Peachtree Road Tuesday morning.

They found the man’s getaway car near Boggs Road and Duluth Highway and chased him to the area of Pleasant Hill and Old Norcross roads, Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. Edwin Ritter said.

In a nearby Kroger parking lot, Ritter said the man carjacked a person, stealing a black Dodge Charger and led police on a brief chase in the second car before crashing at Steve Reynolds and Satellite boulevards.

The man shot at cops and officers returned fire, critically wounding him.

He was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center, where he later died.

WSB-TV News is reporting that Satellite remains blocked off between Steve Reynolds and Pleasant Hill Road.

No officers were injured during the shootout or chases, Ritter said.
