A Marietta man has been charged for committing a series of armed bank robberies in metro Atlanta between February and September.

Kevin Ray Williamson, 51, was recently arraigned on federal armed robbery charges related to six incidents throughout Fulton and Cobb counties, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office.

Williamson struck his first bank in February, when he entered the Fifth Third Bank in Marietta and pointed a gun at a teller demanding money, authorities said.

Williamson would later strike Regions, BB&T and PNC banks in Marietta in April, May and July. In August, he also robbed a Fidelity Bank in Atlanta, and then a Renasant Bank in Johns Creek in September.

"The FBI will continue to make those who bring this type of violent crime into our communities a priority matter,” said Special Agent George Crouch of the FBI's Atlanta Field Office.

The cases are still under investigation by the FBI.
