Details have been announced for the fourth annual edition of the Kids to Parks/Safe Kids Day on Saturday, May 18, at Allatoona Lake.

The event, co-hosted by Safe Kids Cherokee County and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, is set for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Galt's Ferry Day Use Area, 7299 Rocky Lane, Acworth, according to an Army Corps Facebook posting. Admission is free, but admittance will be limited by the available parking.

Activities will include paddle sports, water safety games, a Chalk on the Walk art contest, summer safety and bicycle safety lessons, a fishing derby and a dive team demonstration. Current fourth graders will be issued Every Kid in a Park passes, good for family admission to federally operated recreation areas.

Participants include the Cherokee County Fire & Emergency Services, Dive Team and Sheriff’s Office; National Park Service Kennesaw Mountain NBF; Wildlife Action; and the Allatoona Lake Association. Sponsors are Northside Hospital, National Park Trust and Every Kid in a Park.
