One person is about a half-million dollars richer thanks to a lucky purchase made at a Cobb County convenience store.

A Fantasy 5 jackpot ticket worth $515,661 was sold Tuesday in Marietta for the June 25 drawing, the Georgia Lottery Corporation said. The winning numbers from that drawing were 1-8-13-26-36.

Chevron at 630 Whitlock Avenue NW in Marietta sold the ticket, and the winner claimed the prize on Wednesday.

Profits from the Georgia Lottery Corp. have contributed more than $20 billion to the state for education. Lottery revenue pays for programs such as the state’s HOPE Scholarship and the Pre-K program.

Healthcare at College Park, a nursing home in Fulton County, GA, stands shuttered with its door chained on July 26, 2025, having closed in recent months. Researchers at Brown University developed a list of U.S. nursing homes they predicted were at risk of closing based on 2023 data, and would be at elevated risk of closing due to the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act's cuts to Medicaid. Healthcare at College Park was on their list. It survived past its last federal inspection in August of 2024 but has now closed down. The bill's biggest provisions will roll out over years starting Jan. 1. (Ariel Hart/AJC)
