A third individual has been arrested in connection with a drive-by shooting that left a father of five dead.
The third suspect is a 16-year-old. His name is being withheld because he is a juvenile.
Anthony Scott Carter, 41, had just left his high school reunion according to reports. Around 12:30 a.m. Saturday, he was at a stop light at the corner of Panola Road and Covington Highway when another car pulled up alongside, DeKalb County police spokesman Officer Jason Gagnon said.
"The victim was shot one time through the driver-side window," Gagnon told WSB Radio. "The bullet struck the victim in the upper torso."
"Police are actively searching for a fourth person in connection to this shooting," Mekka Parish, DeKalb police spokeswoman told the AJC.
According to WSB-TV, Carter was a tow truck driver.
Police have not released the names of the men arrested, but jail booking logs show that Menshack Nyepah, 21, was booked into the DeKalb jail just before midnight Saturday night, while Darius Rashid Mapp, 18, was booked in about an hour later.
Both men are charged with murder, while Neypah is also charged with making a false report of a crime. WSB-TV reported that Nyepah called police after the shooting to report that his car, which was involved in the incident, had been stolen.
Carter's car rolled through the intersection, stopping at a Shell gas station. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died.
Gagnon said the motive is unclear.
"We don't know if it's random or targeted at this point," he said.
Police were questioning witnesses at nearby businesses that were open at the time of the shooting and reviewing video from surveillance cameras in the area.
Carter's relatives told WSB-TV he had just left an Avondale High School reunion. They said they had no idea why anyone would target him.
