For the second time this week, a stolen sport-utility vehicle has been fished out of Lake Lanier, authorities said.

As in the previous case, a fisherman using a sonar device on his boat discovered the sunken vehicle off a boat ramp at Mountain View Park, according to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s dive team on Thursday recovered a 2003 Toyota Four-Runner in about 23 feet of water. The vehicle had been reported stolen in November 2004 from Oakwood, the sheriff’s office said.

On Tuesday, authorities recovered a stolen 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser about 75 feet away from the latest find. That vehicle had been reported stolen in June 2010 from a residence on Browns Bridge Road.

“Both vehicles appeared to have been intentionally rolled in the lake via the boat ramp, and there was no evidence of any further crimes immediately associated with either one,” the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

A criminal investigation is continuing.
