Sandy Springs police shut down Interstate 285 eastbound for hours Sunday morning for a crash investigation.

Police closed the interstate at exit 22, New Northside Drive and Powers Ferry Road, starting at 8 a.m. Sunday. All lanes reopened just before 11 a.m.

Police were reconstructing a fatal crash that happened in early February. Jarvis Cohen, 28, was hit and killed by a car when he got out of his own car after being involved in a crash.

Police detoured all drivers onto the exit and then back onto the interstate on the other side of exit 22.

The Georgia Department of Transportation said drivers should expect significant delays and were encouraged to avoid the area.
