Members of Widespread Panic serenaded the Georgia House of Representatives on Tuesday morning as part of the band being honored by the House and Senate.
The General Assembly recognized the jam band, which debuted in Athens 25 years ago, as part of its long history of honoring Georgia musicians. Previous artists recognized include Ray Charles and James Brown.
The band will continue its anniversary celebration throughout the year, with a performance scheduled for next month at the South by Southwest music conference in Austin, Texas, that will be taped for the "Austin City Limits" television program.
