Volunteers are invited to help remove debris and trash from the banks of Peachtree Creek in Brookhaven in preparation for the completion of the first phase of the Peachtree Creek Greenway.

The cleanup will be held on Sept. 14 from 8:30 a.m. to noon along the trailway, which is under construction between Briarwood and North Druid Hills roads in DeKalb County. It is being held as part of the Cowart Family YMCA’s “Days of Service.”

This one-mile stretch is the first phase of the Peachtree Creek Greenway, and it is almost complete. In the coming years, the Greenway is planned to extend for 12 miles, through six cities and ultimately connecting with the Atlanta Beltline.

The YMCA will provide all supplies for the clean up, and volunteers of any age can participate.  Anyone who is interested is asked to pre-register by visiting the "Days of Service" website and selecting "Peachtree Creek Cleanup" as the event.
