In some ways, Gwinnett County Commissioner John Heard said, it is more difficult to decide what to fund in the county budget when there is more money available than it had been during the recession.
“As you come back off hard times, you’re addressing all the pent-up needs,” he said. “That’s the situation we’re in right now.”
In Gwinnett this year, employee retention and the judicial system were Chairman Charlotte Nash’s priorities. In the budget presented this week, she plans to fund body cameras for police and sheriff’s deputies, a new police precinct location and the expansion of the police force by 55 officers.
