Expect delays on Cumming Highway near Sugar Hill tonight as Gwinnett County shifts traffic to build the final lanes of Ga. 20 from Arbor View Way to the Chattahoochee River.

The lane shift from 8 p.m. to midnight will affect about 2.5 miles of road. Motorists will be shifted onto the new outside lanes while a contractor completes construction of the inside lanes.

Access to all side streets will be maintained during the shift, and flaggers will be in the area to guide traffic.

Gwinnett is widening about four miles of Ga. 20 from Peachtree Industrial Boulevard to Burnette Trail.

Across the river, Forsyth County and the Georgia Department of Transportation are widening Ga. 20 from James Burgess Road to Samples Road.

Construction of Gwinnett County’s section of the project is expected to be completed early next year.
