The annual “Are You Smarter Than a KIPPster?” fundraising competition will pit six KIPP Metro Atlanta students against six local celebrities for the third time this year, which will feature comedian Jeff Foxworthy as emcee.
Foxworthy, who also hosted Fox’s “Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader” TV show on which the “KIPPster” competition is based, will mediate celebrity contestants such as Atlanta Public Schools Superintendent Meria Carstarphen, Delta Airlines CEO Richard Anderson, Atlanta Falcons Center Peter Konz, Georgia Institute of Technology President G. P. “Bud” Peterson, actress Terri Vaughn and WSB-TV/Channel 2 Director of Editorials and Public Affairs Jocelyn Dorsey.
The competition will take place on Thursday, March 19 at the Fox Theatre’s Egyptian Ballroom, and all proceeds from the event will directly benefit the KIPP Metro Atlanta Schools Scholarship Endowment, according to the KIPP press release.
The event has already sold out with 600 attendees, according to the press release. For the last two years, KIPP students have won the competition.
