Starr’s Mill team fourth in U.S. academic bowl for deaf

The Starr's Mill High School Academic Bowl Team for the Deaf represented Georgia and took fourth-place honors at the 2016 National Academic Bowl for Deaf and Hard of Hearing high school students at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. April 23-26. The Starr's Mill team was one of the top 24 in the nation invited to compete, and qualified for the national competition after earning a wild card spot at the Kentucky School for the Deaf Southeast Regional, one of four regional competitions in the nation. Team members are Darius Copper, Anna Martin, David Martin, and Liam O'Connell. This is the seventh year Starr's Mill has had a team competing at the national level. Coaches are Cindy Hartpence and Samandra Muniz.
