Some Georgia students, just returning from holiday breaks, could get another reprieve from class as early as Friday, if weather reports pan out.

Channel 2 Action News weather reports say the cold is coming and that north Georgians, including those in the Atlanta area, could see snow or ice.

Regional school systems stay ready with protocols in place to monitor the best information and make the call as early as possible to avoid putting students and parents in danger from traveling during wintry weather.

Each system also has in place ways to get the word out, from notifying The Atlanta Journal-Constitution and other media, to posting information on school system websites and putting out information on social media, such as Twitter.
