Purpose Built Schools, the nonprofit that will manage Atlanta's Thomasville Heights Elementary School next school year, is hiring. The group is holding a job fair Saturday.

Atlanta Public Schools hired Purpose Built, which is affiliated with Drew Charter School, to run Thomasville in an attempt to improve the school's performance. In the coming years, Purpose Built will take over management of three more Atlanta public schools.

All current Thomasville staff had to apply for their jobs. Fifteen of the 24 currents staff members who applied, including teachers and other staff, have received offers from Purpose Built.

But Purpose Built officials say they have more slots to fill, including for teachers, instructional coaches, cafeteria monitors and other positions. Salaries will be one experience “step” higher than employees would earn with Atlanta Public Schools. Staff will also receive signing bonuses of $3,000 for teachers and $1,500 for clerical and administrative staff.

The Purpose Built/Thomasville job fair is Saturday, April 16 from 9 a.m.-noon at Drew Charter School Elementary Academy, 301 East Lake Blvd.
