Ivy Preparatory Academy’s Young Men’s Leadership Academy will close at the end of the school year, school officials said Monday.

School officials said today the Charter Schools Commission did not renew the academy, part of the Ivy Prep cluster of schools, after looking at past data. The school, in DeKalb County, has about 226 students enrolled.

The State Charter School Commission voted in March to not renew the Ivy Prep Young Men’s Leadership Academy due to poor financial management and weak academic performance.  The school will cease operations on June 30, 2016.

It's the second of the system's three schools to close this year. Administrators pulled the plug on the high school in October, with students being sent back to schools in Gwinnett and DeKalb counties and Atlanta, saying at the time they could not do the job they hoped to do in educating the high-school students.

Parents already are calling the DeKalb County School District seeking information on school choice lotteries and other programs.
