All metro Atlanta schools will be closed Tuesday as wind and rain from Tropical Storm Irma cause problems in metro Atlanta.

Rain began early Monday in the region, with winds picking up as the day progressed. Many in the region lost power as trees and power lines came down as Irma made its approach.

Gwinnett County Schools and Atlanta Public Schools announced school was canceled early Monday afternoon, joining Fulton, Dekalb, Cobb and Clayton counties, as well as City Schools of Decatur and Marietta City Schools.

Fulton County Schools officials said 235-day employees were still supposed to report to work Tuesday.
