The Kennesaw State University women’s basketball team will miss a tournament in Puerto Rico because of Sunday’s power outage at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

The team was scheduled to fly Sunday to Puerto Rico, but wound up stuck here, like thousands of other travelers. The tournament, the Puerto Rico Classic, began Monday.

“After looking into flights from several different airports throughout the Southeast, we were just not able to secure any flights,” Agnus Berenato, the team’s head coach, said on the university’s website.

The coach posted on Twitter: "Today we controlled the controllables. @KSUOwlsWBB survived and advanced through the #ATLANTAairport power outage. @ATLairport your employees were great host!"

Berenato said on the university’s website that the team will do community outreach, such as preparing meals for local families, before the Christmas break.
