Jennifer Nettles to give Agnes Scott College commencement speech

Chart-topping country music singer/songwriter Jennifer Nettles will give the commencement address at Agnes Scott College, officials there announced Tuesday.

Nettles, a Douglas, Ga. native, is a 1997 graduate of the Decatur-based women’s college. The commencement is scheduled for Sat., May 12 at 9:30 a.m. More than 200 seniors will be granted bachelor’s degrees.

Nettles, part of the group Sugarland, has had hits such as "All I Want to Do" and “Stay.” She’s a Grammy and CMA award winner.

The May commencement is the last for president Elizabeth Kiss, who is leaving Agnes Scott to become head of the Rhodes Trust. Leocadia "Lee" Zak will become the college's next president.
