Next month, interim presidents will begin work at Valdosta State University and South Georgia State College.
The interim leaders were named this week by University System of Georgia Chancellor Hank Huckaby.
Kelli Brown will begin June 1 at Valdosta State, replacing Cecil Staton, who was also an interim president at the school. Staton, a former state senator, was named chancellor of East Carolina University last month.
Brown currently serves as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville. Before coming to the University System, Brown served in several administrative roles at the University of Florida, the University of South Florida in Tampa and Illinois State University in Normal.
Ingrid Thompson-Sellers will begin June 30 at South Georgia, replacing outgoing president Virginia Carson, who announced her retirement earlier this year. Carson had been president of the former South Georgia College since 2008, and continued to lead the institution when it consolidated with Waycross College to become South Georgia State in 2013.
Thompson-Sellers currently serves as a senior associate dean and professor of business information systems at Georgia State University. Before her tenure at Georgia State, Thompson-Sellers held a number of administrative and faculty positions at Georgia Perimeter College, and taught at Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y.
