About a hundred Georgia school districts will receive grant money to improve digital learning by making upgrades to high-speed broadband access.

The $36.7 million Connections for Classrooms grant was announced by Gov. Nathan Deal following recommendations from a Digital Learning Task Force. It’s a collaboration between several state agencies, including the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement, the Georgia Department of Education and the One Georgia Authority.

“A key portion of its recommendations was to build out the technology infrastructure necessary for effective digital learning, and these funds will go a long way toward helping us achieve that goal and bridge the digital divide in our school,” Deal said in a statement.

This year, 102 districts and one state charter school received grant awards. Thomas, Peach, Tattnall, Ben Hill, and Laurens county school districts will receive enough to have wireless access in every classroom. For a complete list of winners, click here.
