Fulton County Schools earned another five-year school accreditation by AdvancED, the parent organization of SACS (Southern Association of Colleges and Schools), school officials learned Wednesday.
The district earned high marks for its school management and leadership, both at the district and school board level. But the group also identified some weakness in digital learning and community perceptions that all schools are not funded equally.
“We know that there are some areas that need improvement but they don’t come as a surprise,” Superintendent Robert Avossa said in a statement. “Many already have direct plans for improvement.”
In 2004, Fulton became the first school system in the nation to receive district accreditation. A team visited the district this week and interviewed almost 650 administrators, principals, teachers, students, families and business and community partners.
