Fulton County schools leaders are planning to hold a meeting Monday to highlight planned renovations to Riverwood International Charter School in Sandy Springs.

The meeting at the school will give students, parents and Riverwood neighbors information about the school’s upcoming 26-classroom addition project.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the school auditorium, located at 5900 Raider Dr. Representatives from Chapman Griffin Lanier Sussenbach Architects and Turner Construction will discuss the proposed design. They also will discuss the construction timeline and how it will affect those who live near the high school.

Demolition of the former Heards Ferry Elementary School, adjacent to Riverwood, is underway to allow for the school’s expansion. Construction for the addition is expected to begin in December with its completion expected in summer 2017.

The project is part of Fulton schools' five-year eSPLOST capital program that is building new schools, funding renovations and additions and supporting technology in classrooms.
