Fulton County schools hosted its first-ever “Mobile Appathon,” where almost 100 students from 25 schools gathered at Ridgeview Charter School to win bragging rights for building the best mobile app.

Monetary prizes ranged from $25 to $500, and competition was open to Fulton students in grades 3-12 as individuals or teams of two.

The event on Saturday at the school in Sandy Springs was an opportunity for students to demonstrate their technology-related skills and provide a venue for them to channel technology interests.

The Appathon is presented by TAG HackLab, a new program of the Technology Association of Georgia that helps organizations plan, promote and implement events where students can hone their technology skills. Other event sponsors include Aruba Networks, Hewlett-Packard and the Fulton Education Foundation.
