The Fulton County school board plans to announce the finalist for superintendent on Wednesday and hold several meetings this week to give the public a chance to meet the proposed leader.

Georgia's fourth largest school district has been seeking its next superintendent since the resignation last fall of Jeff Rose.

The school board plans to announce the person it has chosen as finalist for the job during a meeting at noon Wednesday at the Fulton County School North Learning Center, 450 Northridge Parkway in Sandy Springs.

The board then must wait 14 days before it can vote to hire the person selected. That time is to allow for public input on the finalist chosen.

Georgia law allows school districts to keep most of the superintendent search confidential. The district may release the names of up to three finalists, though many announce only one.

The candidate also will be available to meet with members of the public at three meetings before the board votes. Those meetings have been scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Roswell High School, 7 p.m. Thursday at Westlake High School and 10:30 a.m. Friday at Centennial High School.
