Officials will break ground on a new Atlanta elementary school, health clinic and YMCA Early Learning Center.

Atlanta Public Schools and the Grove Park Foundation teamed up to provide the funding for the new Woodson Park Academy at 1605 Donald Lee Hollowell Parkway NW.

APS signed a contract with charter school network KIPP Metro Atlanta to take over daily operations and staffing of the academy beginning this school year.

The school was created by the merger of Woodson Elementary and Grove Park Intermediate. Students currently attend school in a nearby building but are scheduled to move into the new facility next year.

In addition to the new school, the construction project includes a school-based health clinic and a YMCA Early Learning Center. Combined, the projected is estimated to cost $51 million.

A groundbreaking ceremony to celebrate the start of the construction project is scheduled for Tuesday.
