Carmel Elementary School third-grade teacher Joanne Emanuel and her class were recently honored by the Walt Disney Company for a project the class made with Disney employees. As part of the company's VoluntEAR community service project, company employees volunteered in her classroom and, with the students, made a special banner. The employees didn't tell Emanuel they were entering the banner in a company contest, and they recently returned to surprise the class with the news that it won first place. The class received a ribbon and certificate, as well as school supplies collected through the "Jessie's Roundup" donation drive at The Disney Store at Town Center Mall.
