Buford City Schools recently announced plans to close out the school year. According to information circulated to parents, instruction continues through May 8 and school will officially end May 21.

Students who are not passing with a year long grade of 70 will have an opportunity to continue to receive

instructional intervention between May 11- 21 to demonstrate course proficiency.

To support social/emotional needs of

students, optional video conferencing will continue through May 21.

Many parents are concerned about picking up belongings left at schools when the shelter-in-place order was given in March as well as returning school materials.

The district has a schedule set for those transactions. Students will receive their personal items as well as yearbooks, perfect attendance and honor roll awards and refund checks.

They are to return media center books, athletic uniforms, fine arts costumes, textbooks, calculators and any other school-issued items.

High school seniors are scheduled to conduct these exchanges 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, May 15.

All other students have varied times from Monday, May 18 through Thursday, May 21.

Parents are asked to pull up to the designated location for each school, most are bus lanes or parent drop-off points. To adhere to social-distancing guidelines, a sign with the students first and last name should be displayed in the windshield. A staff member will place student items in the trunk or back seat of the car and retrieve items to be returned.
