With 2019 almost over, the Buford City Schools’ Board of Education this week voted unanimously to pass the proposed district calendars for 2020-2021 and 2021-2022. This is the first time Buford City Schools has rolled out two calendars.

The annual district calendar is created by the Superintendent’s Advisory Council. Composed of teachers that were appointed to represent their school in district-wide discussions, the group narrowed options to two calendar versions that all school staff members voted on.

“As our district grows it has become evident that a shift to a two-year calendar was necessary,” Buford City Schools Superintendent Dr. Robert Downs said. “The expanded calendar allows more time for our families and staff to plan accordingly.”

Highlights include:

  • The first days of school are Aug. 5, 2020 and Aug. 6, 2021.
  • Spring Break 2021 is April 5 - 9 and 2022 is April 4 - 8.
  • The last days of school are May 27, 2021 and May 26, 2022.

Some days for student time off such as Homecoming and the annual Fall Festival have yet to be determined.
