Birney beats competition at statewide bowl

Fifth graders at Birney Elementary School recently swept the statewide Helen Ruffin Reading Bowl. As part of the competition, students were required to read 16 chapter books and answer detailed questions about the books. More than 500 teams competed in the competition.
