With Gov. Brian Kemp’s executive order keeping schools closed to students through the end of March, the Barrow County School System will remain closed until after Spring Break. That means classes will remain remote through Thursday, April 2. Friday, April 3 is a scheduled teacher planning day and Spring Break is set to take place Monday, April 6 through Friday, April 10.

The school district will announce at a later time if distance learning will be extended and how this will affect prom and graduation.

In addition, the Barrow County School System Nutrition staff will distribute take-away breakfast and lunch 9 a.m. to  2 p.m. weekdays at Apalachee High School (behind the school by the stadium) and Winder-Barrow High School (front of the school by cafeteria). The Grab-N-Go bags are available for any child 18 and younger.

Since all families aren’t able to bring their children to the two high school sites to pick up meals, there are several community organizations and individuals that have volunteered to deliver food to neighborhoods, apartments and individual families.
