Atlanta Public Schools is searching for an administrator to monitor the district’s charter schools.

The district is accepting applications for the position of executive director of the Office of Innovation through Oct. 26. The salary range for the job is $106,874 to $146,555.

The job opening is created by the departure of Gayle Burnett, who will retire Nov. 30.

Burnett took on the role in 2014 and previously had worked as the district’s manager of data and compliance and as a research associate.

The job entails overseeing the authorization and renewal of charter school contracts for the district and working with charter operators who manage a handful of APS schools via a partnership agreement with the district. The executive director also provides oversight of those schools.

The district is looking for candidates with seven years of education experience, preferably related to charter schools, and a knowledge of the state's charter laws.
