A longtime Woodstock-linked civic activist has been named the winner of the 2014 Barbara G. Ingram Citizen of the Year Award.
The historic preservation group Preservation Woodstock bestowed the annual honor on Jim Drinkard. It salutes a citizen who’s made notable contributions toward keeping the city’s heritage intact. Drinkard has twice served as the group’s president, has been heavily involved in its push to put historical markers downtown, and managed the restoration of his grandfather’s store (Dean’s Store) for use as the Woodstock Visitors Center.
Drinkard will be feted during a ceremony following the Woodstock Christmas parade Dec. 6. He now lives in Vinings but his family’s called Woodstock home for several generations.
