The motorcycle driver killed in a Cobb County wreck was identified Friday as a 29-year-old Hiram man.

Darnell C. Griffin was driving a 2008 Kawasaki ZX600 motorcycle eastbound on Windy Hill Road when he was hit by a 2004 Kia Optima, according to Cobb police.

Investigators believe Maria T. Howard, 50, of Marietta, was driving the Kia westbound on Windy Hill and attempting to make a left turn onto Favor Road when the wreck happened, around 6:20 p.m. Thursday.

Griffin died at the scene of the wreck, Officer Alicia Chilton said. Howard and her 15-year-old daughter, who was in the front seat, were treated at WellStar Kennestone Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The wreck remains under investigation.
