The Crossroads Mall in Fort Dodge was forced to close after the roof caved in and filled a vacant storefront with debris and covering part of the mall with water, The Messenger reported.

No one was injured, the newspaper reported.

In a statement, mall general manager Melissa Verschoor said the weight of the snow caused the collapse around 9:57 a.m.

“When the roof came down it took out a portion of the sprinkler system and that’s where the water came from,” Verschoor said.

The mall was closed Saturday afternoon, but Verschoor told the Messenger she hoped it would reopen Sunday.
