A Gwinnett County school custodian is no longer employed by the district after her arrest last month on drug charges.

Mary Katherine Williams of Buford was arrested Nov. 24 on a charges of cocaine possession.

Her arrest, according to Gwinnett County Public Schools spokeswoman Sloan Roach, came after a Mill Creek High School employee discovered a black zippered pouch in the staff parking lot the afternoon on Nov. 19. The pouch included, among other items, a white powder tied in a cellophane wrapper and a portion of a drinking straw with white residue on it.

The powder was identified as 0.7 grams of cocaine, according to a Gwinnett County Schools Police incident report. An investigation by a school resource officer led to Williams’ arrest.

Roach said Williams, a custodian at the school, is no longer employed by the school system.

Williams was released the same night of her arrest on an $11,200 bond.
