A 7-year-old Gwinnett County boy reported missing — who police said was with his mother’s boyfriend — has been found safe.
The boyfriend, 42-year-old Ricardo Medy, turned himself in Wednesday, Gwinnett police said. He was wanted on a charge of interference with custody, police said in a statement Monday.
Quamaine Finch was in “good health” and was put in the custody of his Division of Family and Children Services case worker, the statement said.
Finch was reported missing after his mother was arrested in Fulton County last week on unreleased charges, officials said.
While the boy was initially left in Medy’s care, DFCS was subsequently given custody of him.
When officers visited Medy’s home in unincorporated Lawrenceville on Nov. 27, he refused to answer the door and told officers over the phone that the boy was with his biological father at an unknown location, police said.
Later on Monday, police said Medy called a member of the media, saying he had the child and that he was unharmed, according to a news release.
“We are thankful that there was a peaceful resolution to this situation,” police said Wednesday.
