GoFundMe account has been set up after two toddlers died Saturday night in a fast-moving fire in a mobile home near Statesboro.

The page identified the victims as Itzayana and Monica. Bulloch County Coroner Jake Futch told WTOC-TV in Savannah the children were a 2- and a 3-year-old.

The funds will go toward the girls’ funeral expenses and will help the family with any expenses to secure another place to live. As of Tuesday afternoon, about $14,000 had been donated.

Crews were called to the Barn Mobile Home Park in response to a fire, Statesboro Fire Chief Tim Grams told The Statesboro Herald.

Crews found the home engulfed in flames, and a woman told firefighters the two children were inside a back bedroom, according to the Herald.

Crews located the children in the room and removed them from the home, the newspaper reported. Emergency personnel tried to revive the girls, but they were pronounced dead at the scene, the Herald reported.

“Any fatality as a result of a fire is tragic, but when children are involved it is especially heartbreaking,” Grams told the Herald. “Despite our firefighters’ best efforts, the amount of fire and smoke present when units arrived on scene made it unlikely anyone would be able to survive that extreme of an environment. Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the family of the two children.”

The Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia State Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the cause of the fire, the Herald reported.
