A Meriwether County Magistrate Court deputy clerk was arrested Wednesday in connection with a child pornography investigation, according to the GBI.
Carol Washington, 49, was charged with sexual exploitation of children and violation of oath of office, the state agency said Thursday in a news release.
The GBI started investigating Washington after learning from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that she may have uploaded child porn to a popular social media site.
Authorities secured a warrant to search Washington’s home. While the GBI did not disclose what agents and Meriwether County sheriff’s deputies found in the residence, they said the search led to her arrest.
Washington was booked into the Meriwether County Jail, according to the agency.
