Police officers from around the country are expected to attend Friday's funeral for Fulton County police Detective Terence Avery Green.

Green, 48, of East Point, was shot early March 4 while responding to a report of shots fired in a south Fulton neighborhood.

Amanuel Menghesha, 42, of Fairburn, allegedly shot and killed Green, a 22-year veteran of the department, police said. Menghesha was later arrested on murder and aggravated assault charges.

A father of four sons, Green is survived by his parents, numerous relatives and high school friends, including many he saw regularly.

"You wouldn't believe how many people loved my son," Bertha Green told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution two days after her son was killed.

A viewing and wake were held Thursday for Green at Woods Memorial Baptist Church in College Park. The officer’s funeral will be Friday at 1 p.m. at World Changers Church International, also in College Park. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in College Park.

All law enforcement agencies participating in the processional are asked to meet at Turner Field on Friday at 10 a.m. Numerous local police agencies will participate in the processional, as well as officers from Chicago, police said Thursday.
