Fulton County Police were looking Tuesday for a white Ford Mustang and its driver who they believe may have been involved in an armed robbery and carjacking, and attempted to run over a police officer.
The officer had responded to a call about a suspicious vehicle on Butner Road behind the Berean Bible Baptist Church and was checking the Mustang when a man approached her. As they talked, the man ran and the officer chased him on foot, said Det. Melissa Parker.
The man doubled back to the car, jumped in and accelerated toward the officer, attempting to run her over. The officer fired shots at the vehicle as it approached. She got out of the way, and was not hurt, but the driver drove off.
Police said the vehicle may have been carjacked Monday from College Park and also involved in an armed robbery Monday.
The vehicle, which police said may be a 2006 model, may still have a temporary tag.
