A former Atlanta high school employee faces charges of sexual assault and child cruelty stemming from a November incident.
Tristan Carswell was arrested by East Point police this week and booked into the Fulton County Jail Saturday, according to Channel 2 Action News. He is charged with cruelty to children in the first degree, aggravated sodomy and sexual assault by person in supervisory or disciplinary authority.
Carswell was a paraprofessional and the assistant band director at Banneker High School in College Park, the station reports.
A school spokesperson says Carswell is no longer employed by the school system.
“The allegations of misconduct with minors and theft is being investigated by our school police department,” the school system said in a statement Saturday.
