Dairy Queen

1519 Norman Berry Dr

Score: 67/U

A metro Atlanta Dairy Queen restaurant failed its routine health inspection Wednesday after a county inspector observed flies throughout the facility, among other violations.

The chain location at 1519 Norman Berry Drive in East Point received a 67/U on the inspection, according to a Georgia Department of Public Health report.

According to the report, the restaurant scored a 91/A in February this year and in June last year.

In addition to finding flies and heavy slime and mold buildip in the ice machine, the county inspector noted that employees, including the cook, were not using hair nets or other proper hair restraints.

The inspector also observed heavy food debris and buildup inside gaskets and cooling units, and on floors and walls throughout the kitchen area.

The side or cover of the ice cream machine was also missing, according to the report.

Other violations included: wet wiping cloths in sanitizing solutions, failure to post current inspection score at the drive-thru window and improperly cooled coolers.

"We have been working on fixing the violations since the inspection," a manager at the East Point restaurant told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution when contacted Thursday morning.

According to the manager, a follow-up inspection will occur in the next few weeks.
