A firefighter was injured Tuesday morning battling a blaze that broke out in a house in northwest Atlanta.

Atlanta fire Capt. Alfredo Sealy said firefighters arriving at the one-story house on Collier Drive about 9 a.m. found heavy smoke, but no fire.

“However, five or 10 minutes into the operation, we had heavy fire and we had to go defensive mode,” Sealy told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Sealy said one firefighter sustained minor burns to the back of his neck, but there were no other injuries.

He said no one was at home when the fire broke out.
