A Fayetteville man suspected of committing numerous burglaries in Coweta, Fayette and Spalding counties has been arrested, Spalding Sheriff Wendell Beam said today.

Richard Blake Willeby, 24, has been charged with burglary and possession of methamphetamine, he said in a statement.

Authorities caught him Friday after they responded to a burglary in eastern Spalding.

“When deputies arrived,” Beam said in a statement, “a brief description of a gray four door passenger vehicle was given to the deputy, who notified other deputies in the area.”

They found a vehicle matching that description on Bar H Road and Willeby was behind the wheel. Investigators searched the vehicle and found items from the burglary scene, Beam said.

“The investigation revealed that Willeby is responsible for burglaries in western Spalding County also,” he said. “Authorities in Coweta and Fayette County will also be charging Willeby with burglaries within their jurisdictions.”

Willeby is being held in the Spalding County Detention Center awaiting his first appearance hearing before a magistrate judge.
